Description of the Aggregat 4 (A4 or V2 Rocket)

My impression of the A-4 as a student of the history of technology
As in many other technical areas, the most advanced technologies are developed initially for destructive means. The A4 was the first real rocket and the technology (and the engineers developing it) went on to pioneer the American space program and play important roles in the Russian space development as well. In the history of technology this was a pioneering effort - and like much of the other war technology developed by Germany, United States, Great Britain, Japan, and Russia - it was applied to improve the course of man eventually.

Die erste Flussigkeits Großrakete das >>Aggregat 4<<, wurde inner halb von fünf Jahren bis zur Einsatzreife entwickelt.

The first large, liquid-fueled rocket "the Aggregat 4", was developed over a period of five years before being committed to combat.

Diese Rakete gilt als Vorgängerin aller später für die Raumfahrt einegesetzen Trägerraketen (Trägersystem).
This rocket is held to be the predecessor of all subsequent launch rockets (launch vehicles) used in space flight projects.

Zum erstenmal wurde fünffache Schallgeschwindigkeit erreicht.
Five times the speed of sound was acheived for the first time.

Der Bau von Großraketen in hohen Stückzahlen und der Einsatz von System-Technik und Management war beispielhaft für später Entwicklungen.
The building of giant rockets in large numbers and the employment of system technology and management set an example for later developments.
